Physical and Mental Health

#RawsonStrong Wrestling – is a youth wrestling organization and outreach program. Its main priorities are mentoring and helping kids stay physically active while also helping with education, mental health, and fitness. Click the link above for more information.
#RawsonStrong Community Outreach – Our way of connecting the youth to other community programs and resources through volunteer opportunities such as St.James CME Outreach Nutrition Program, Teen Advisory Group with the Mildred T. Library, and Turn Around Columbus Victory Garden. We also host two fun annual events to educate our community and spread physical and mental health awareness: “Teen Mental Health Fair” in the Spring and the “RawsonStrong Suicide Awareness 5k walk/run”.
Family Connections
Lemon Squeeze – A community family meeting every 3rd Tuesday touching on subjects geared toward relationship building amongst families in Columbus. Parents and youth will have a platform to touch on topics and learn skills and local resources to assist with communication barriers in homes. The group will survey pressure points from different participant positions in the meeting on each topic. Leading to the ultimate decompression of tension and miscommunication around the topic! Join us!! Check out the calendar or email connect@teenresource5.org for the latest info!
Vocational/employment resources
Reach for the Skyy!!! – A program that is designed to help teens begin their journey into the workforce. Through this program, we will provide a 25.00-dollar stipend towards the cost of supplies needed to start their jobs. (shoes, uniforms). We will also provide a “back-up” ride service for the teens; this service will be there for rides when an emergency arises, and their regular mode of transportation cannot do it. In return, we contract with each teen for 2 hours of community service at one of our events within 30 days. The Reach for the Skyy is named after one of our teens, who helped inspire this awesome program, Skyy Hargrove.
Educational Resources
Giving Back through Backpacks – This is a program through teen resource 5 that delivers backpacks to middle schools in the surrounding area. Teen resource 5 will provide at least 25 backpacks filled with school supplies to the students at a local middle school once a year at their registration. we are excited to host this annual event and partner with other nonprofits throughout the community.

Artistic Expression
Art therapy– Program still in the development stages!! We have found a lot of teens utilize art to express themselves and were able to study this through a project where we partnered again with Turn Around Columbus to revitalize the local mural along MLK Blvd.
ARTruprenuers– The goal of this program is to offer mentorship to young creatives and educate them about the business world of art. The events for this program will feature artists coming and speaking about their art and teaching teens their creative process and how they promote and sell their art. The teens will also have the opportunity to put what they’ve learned to the test by having the chance to participate in many art expos.
